Here at Finnstarz we source organic and environmentally friendly children’s products that are handmade with love across the globe following Fair Trade principles.
Why 100% Organic Cotton?
Conventionally grown cotton is one of most heavily sprayed field crops in the world, with the chemicals used resulting in weakening the fibres. Using 2 percent of the farmland worldwide, it consumes 10 percent of the world's pesticides and 25 percent of all insecticides. Sprayed from the air, these highly toxic pesticides often drift over farmhouses, roads, water sources, and workers, resulting in water and soil contamination, as well as danger to wildlife and human health.
In contrast, organically grown cotton makes use of beneficial bugs and insect compost and manure, in place of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. It’s a safe farming method that preserves top soil, protects forests and streams and saves energy. Organic Cotton is buttery-soft, and gets even softer with each washing. It's also stronger and more durable than most other fabrics. It is of better long-term value than other fabrics, and best of all, it's an investment in our children's future!
The Cut4Cloth clothing range we stock is pesticide-free, naturally dyed and made from pure 100% organic cotton. Garments are dyed using environmentally responsible dyes that are free from banned amines, AZO, AOX, formaldehyde, heavy metals and other harmful additives.
We truly believe that the baby and toddler items which we stock are not only better for the environment, but are better for children too, being wonderfully soft, chemical free and strong. Why Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is an innovative, market-based approach to sustainable development.
It is a trading partnership, based on transparency and respect that seeks greater equity in international trade. By buying 'Fair-trade' we can all engage in a trading relationship which is equitable and non exploitative; hence it can be described as fair. Fair Trade helps workers in developing countries to provide for their families by providing a fair wage and a safe and pleasant working environment. The fabrics of which our clothing is made, and the items in our store, are mostly from this type of environment. Where they are not, they are sourced from companies in the developed world where staff are paid a fair wage and items are hand-sewn or made with love from natural fabrics and ingredients.
We’re proud to offer you an alternative to conventional apparel and skincare that is manufactured under environmentally and ethically sound conditions and is soft, pure and most importantly comfortable and soothing to wear and use. ENJOY!
